Brownies + tiramisu = 😍. With layers of traditional tiramisu and a twist of chocolaty brownie goodness, this combo is a match made in dessert heaven. Skip the day-of prep stress that comes with entertaining and make this dessert in stages—prep the brownie ahead of time and freeze it, then whisk the tiramisu topping a day or two before serving.

Ingredients

Toppings (optional): cocoa powder

Preparation
  1. Lightly oil Square Steamer or a microwavable 8" silicone square pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine mix and melted butter until well combined. Stir in eggs, milk, and vanilla. Scrape into pan; smooth top.
  3. Microwave, uncovered, on high for 4 min. Let cool completely in pan. (See Tip if making brownies ahead of time.)
  4. Meanwhile, in a bowl, using an electric mixer, beat cream cheese with icing sugar and cinnamon until smooth. Beat in 2 tbsp whipping cream to loosen the mixture, then add the remaining whipping cream. Beat on high until stiff peaks form when beaters are lifted. Spread a thin layer of whipped cream mixture over brownies.
  5. Pour coffee into a shallow bowl. One at a time, dip ladyfingers into coffee, turning over quickly to lightly coat each side. Arrange on top of brownie, breaking to fit, as needed. Discard any leftover coffee.
  6. Dollop remaining whipped cream mixture over ladyfingers; spread evenly to cover. Cover and refrigerate for at least 3 hr, or up to overnight. Dust with cocoa before serving, if desired.
Tips

If making brownie ahead, rest in pan for 6 min, then unmold. Seal tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight or freeze for up to 2 weeks. Place brownie back into the steamer to continue the recipe.

Swap cream cheese for mascarpone cheese. Mascarpone is traditional for tiramisu and has a lighter consistency.

Add 1 tbsp orange or coffee-flavoured liqueur to coffee before dunking ladyfingers.

To bake brownies in the oven, decrease the amount of milk in the recipe to 2 tbsp, and bake in preheated 350° F oven for 20–25 min, or until toothpick comes out mostly clean with a few crumbs on it.
